Three years of growth and seeking opportunity

Deutsche Rück started writing business in Latin America only three years ago—but has enjoyed a warm reception, says Florian Kummer.

It has been only three years since Deutsche Rück started writing business in Latin America. But it has enjoyed good growth and is seeing many more opportunities in the region, in part buoyed by the hard market, Florian Kummer, managing director, Latin America, told FIDES Today.

He said the business has built a technically sound book in that time in its target areas of writing reinsurance treaties, mainly in the mass and middle-market segments in traditional lines such as property and nat cat, engineering, casualty, marine and motor.

“It is very gratifying to see how well we have been received by our clients and broking partners,” Kummer said.
